Intern Partnership Integrations (all genders)

Aachen
Full-time
Intern / Student

How you can contribute to gridX

The energy world is becoming increasingly interconnected, from inverters and wallboxes to battery storage and smart meters. To ensure all these devices communicate intelligently with each other, they need to be reliably integrated, tested, and continuously developed.

This is exactly where YOU come in.

As an Intern in Partnership Integrations, you will work right at the intersection of hardware, software, and energy. Together with our OEM Partnerships Team and the Testlab, you will ensure that new devices are successfully integrated into the gridX ecosystem, from the very first connection to the final end-to-end test.
In this role, you won’t just get insights into cutting-edge energy IoT systems; you’ll work directly on real-world integrations with leading manufacturers in the energy sector. In short: you’ll help build the technical foundation for the future of energy.

  • Support the integration of new energy devices like inverters, wallboxes, or battery storage systems into the gridX ecosystem.
  • Run tests, analyze communication behavior, and help make integrations rock-solid and reliable.
  • Debug device communication at the driver level and systematically get to the bottom of technical issues.
  • Work closely with our OEM Partnerships Team and the on-site Testlab, supporting technical alignment with both internal and external partners.
  • Set up test environments, wire up devices, and get hardware up and running independently.
  • Assist in validating existing integrations and help make edge cases and bugs reproducible.
  • Contribute to the continuous development of our test automation and internal tools.
  • Document test results, share your insights directly with the team, and bring in your own ideas on how to optimize our processes.
  • And yes, sometimes that means spending three hours figuring out why a device isn't responding just because of a single register. ;)

This is how you and your application stand out

  • You are an enrolled student in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automation Technology, Physics, or a comparable field of study.
  • You have a foundational understanding of renewable energy systems and energy hardware (e.g., inverters, wallboxes, or controllable loads).
  • You are genuinely passionate about technical systems and love tinkering and trying things out yourself.
  • You enjoy a hands-on approach and have no problem setting up equipment, crimping cables, or picking up a cordless screwdriver when needed.
  • You bring some initial programming experience, ideally in C/C++ or Go; experience with automation interfaces like Modbus TCP is a huge plus.
  • You work in a structured, independent, and pragmatic manner.
  • You communicate confidently in both German and English.
